At St Mary’s we believe it is vital in all aspects of a child’s development that they are in school every day. Children already have to miss days of learning and social development due to illness so it is imperative they attend school on all the other days. Absence not only impacts learning but also social circles and attitudes. Friendship groups are affected when a child has been absent and this can unsettle children when they return. As a school we are very worried about this growing trend, and its negative impact.
There are 175 non teaching days in a school year so please use these for holidays, appointments and visits.
