Meals at School

School Meals

We are delighted to be working with Hertfordshire Catering Limited for our school lunch provision. Lunches are cooked on the premises and are of a very high standard and the kitchen is able to cater for children with individual dietary requirements.

You can make an application for a special cultural, lifestyle or allergy menu for your child through an online application process:  https://specialmenu.hcl.co.uk

School lunch is organised on a cafeteria basis. We are aware that selecting meals is a big step for young children when they start school. Parents of young children are therefore invited to participate in the selection of their child’s meal. We use a system called school grid for parents to order their child’s meal online.  Please contact the office for your username and password. Currently, all infant children are entitled to a free school meal under the Government’s  Universal Free School Meals scheme.

Free School Meals

As part of the Government’s Universal Free School Meals (UIFSM) Scheme, all infant pupils are entitled to a free lunchtime meal.

It is really important that parents continue to register for benefit related free school meals. Every eligible pupil who registers under the entitlement criteria enables their school to receive additional government funding (pupil premium), which can support whole school activities for everyone.

If you think that you may be eligible for benefit related free meals, then please contact the council at www.hertfordshire.gov.uk/freeschoolmeals

Packed Lunches

If you would prefer your child to bring a packed lunch, please ensure that you name the lunchbox and any drinks containers. For safety reasons we do not allow glass bottles, hot or fizzy drinks. As part of our commitment to healthy eating, we expect parents to provide a balanced meal.
